The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with the University of Arizona’s School of Natural Resources and the Environment and Gridley Middle School to perform a tree inventory of Case Park. Representatives from the Parks and Recreation Department and the University will give in-class presentations to a class of fifth graders on the importance of urban forests, how trees contribute to communities and how inventories aid in keeping trees healthy. On April 22 and 24, students will perform a sample inventory of the trees in Case Park, learning how to communicate scientific and math principles. The information gathered by the students will then be used by the City to analyze economic and environmental value of the trees.
